The Microbiology Association of Xavier’s, Mumbai in collaboration with the Xavier’s Association of Botany and Xavier’s Zoology Association are thrilled to unveil an exciting opportunity for all aspiring scientists, budding artists, and curious minds – the Microscopy Marvels Competition! Delve into the extraordinary world that lies beyond our immediate sight and showcase your talents in unravelling the mysteries of the microscope. Registrations are open.   1. The ninth edition of IMPRINT, themed CHROMA, welcomes abstracts focusing on topics like camouflage, bioluminescence, iridescence, aposematism and more. Last date to submit abstracts – 15th December 2023. 
  1. IMPRINT also invites you to submit your best zoology related doodles, comic strips, illustrations and sketches for their illustration competition – Oh Zoodles! Deadline – 31st December 2023.

The Nagapattinam Wildlife Division is calling for enthusiastic individuals to join as volunteers for activities during the upcoming sea turtle migratory season from December 2023 to February 2024. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the conservation of Olive Ridley Turtles and the overall health of the wetland ecosystem. Register here.   • Kanha National Park – December is the beginning of the rut season for Barasingha deer. This is also a good time to see colourful migratory birds. 
  • Keoladeo National Park – It is famous for its winter migratory birds, including gadwalls (dabbling ducks) and pelicans.

Migrations

  • The Indian Pitta that breeds in the Himalayan ranges migrates from Central India to the South to escape the harsh winters.
